News from Santa Barbara Quilting Retreats

I had a wonderful experience this last weekend. Coastal Quilters hosted a presentation called Tie One On, featuring Ellyn Ann Geisel, the APRON LADY... her web site is

http://www.apronchronicles.com/about/ellynannegeisel.html

She is the author of the award-winning The Apron Book: Making, Wearing and Sharing a Bit of Cloth and Comfort, now in its sixth printing, a companion little gift book, Apronisms: Pocket Wisdom for Every Day, and The Kitchen Linens Book: Using, Sharing and Cherishing the Fabrics of Our Daily Lives (April 2009). She was hilarious and really entertained all of us. Early on Friday she offered a writing class where folks wrote about their childhood and the experiences they had in their life around creating domestic items like aprons and scarfs and the effect it had on their life. Very Fun!!

I am excited about a visit from my friend Tonye Phillips who will arrive on November 11 from Camp Sherman, Oregon. She is a fabulous applique artist and the author of Hand Appliqued Quilts, a wonderful book with such fabulous colors and ideas, buy it, you will love laying in bed and reading, she gives a lot of great applique tips. She is a wonderful teacher, I really enjoyed her class at Quilters Affair this summer at the Sisters Quilt Show. Hope she will be joining us here at Santa Barbara Quilting Retreats one of these days soon, she will be speaking at Coastal Quilters of Santa Barbara on Thursday, November 11, at 6:30pm. Check their website for further information.

Information about the Freddy Moran/Gwen Marston Retreat will be available soon, just waiting for a new date.

Halloween is now over for another year! I made some fun table runners and a few roving witches....I love this time of year and look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas. I will talk with you again very soon. Lots of Love Cathe

News from Santa Barbara Quilting Retreats

Hi Friends,
Well I have missed you all and wanted to let you know that in 2011 we will begin to hold retreats again here on the beautiful central coast of California. Watch for news to be released about our first retreat with my friends Freddy Moran and Gwen Marston. The dynamic duo will be teaching a 4 day class with lots of fun events happening outside the classroom as well. Some great dinners, wine tasting party, visits to our local very friendly quilt shops and lots of fun. Oh don't forget yarn and bead shops as well. Beautiful hotel setting on the beach and a nice soft, cushy bed to lay your head.

Look also for some Modern Quilting Classes in 2011/2012! We are designing a package for local quilters as well so that it is feasible for you to join us on our adventures.

I will try to keep you updated on a regular basis with our exciting news.
